Stories marked as ‘FC’ will continue the established relationships and facts as presented in this movie. Logan can meet Marie in a totally different setting without using an alternate universe because all the other movies never happened.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine (set in the 80’s)
Everything set during and after this movie, but before X1, will be marked as ‘W1’. This means Logan can meet Marie under different circumstances without using the AU universe once again, as long as the facts and relationships presented in the first Wolverine movie are respected.

X-Men (2000)
The story is set during or after the first X-Men movie. Logan fighting in a cage. Marie on the run. This can also be several years after X1, because when X1 is used, X2 and X3 never happened.

X2: X-Men United (2003)
This tag means the story is set during or after the second X-Men movie. X3 never happened, so Jean ends up dead.

X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
X3 stories are set during or after X3. Anything can happen because… ‘I’m not your father; I’m your friend.’ The Cure might not be permanent, Jean is dead (again), Scott is lost (presumed dead) and Charles has ended up in another man’s body.

The Wolverine (2013)
Logan and his ‘Japan-adventure’. Fics with W2 respect all that’s happened so far, meaning Mariko and Yukio have to be dealt with and Logan probably needs to be really nice to Magneto in order to get his adamantium claws back.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (ends up in 2023)
Total reset of the timeline. Fics with this tag respect all movies above, but once Logan returns from 1973, there’s a new universe to explore where everyone is alive and well.

The story of Logan and Laura (X-23). Logan suddenly became an old man and somehow none of the former X-Men are around, except for Charles. What happened to Marie and the others? Did Chuck really accidentally kill them all? Questions, questions… they need to be answered in a fic.

‘AU’ stands for ‘Alternate Universe’
Slave!Logan and Queen!Marie? Or Repairman!Logan and Girl-Next-Door!Marie? Egg-Juggling-Clown!Logan and Mother-Of-Five!Marie? In AU it’s possible. Sick and tired of scarves and gloves and mutations, but not a fan of X3? AU is the right setting. You want a completely different turn on the movies with bits of the comics? AU is your place to be. In other words: anything goes.
